Our goal is to use locally grown and raised products whenever possible.  This means that we try to balance affordability with quality. 
Buying locally grown and raised products means items are fresh or fresher than most food chains can offer.

Also when we purchase products locally, we generally have face-to-face interactions with the growers/farmers so we know that although they
might not be certified organic farmers, their products tend to be raised in what we think as more natural environments. 
An example would the Highland Vista Farms in Wellman whom we get our pork products. 
They raise not just free-range pork but fresh air, meaning that the hogs are not confined.  You can taste the difference.

Another positive aspect to using/buying local products means that youfre directly helping to sustain and add to the quality of life of the members of your own community.
